Zimbabwe seeks re-introduction of international cards
According to the Herald, banking sector officials in the southern African country are working to re-enable systems to allow foreign transactions.
Currently tourists and business travellers are finding it difficult to make purchases and settle bills in Zimbabwe on a cash-only basis.
However, Bankers' Association of Zimbabwe president John Mangudya has insisted this will change.
He told the news source: "The system had been stopped when we accumulated too many zeros that our operations could not cope with, but now that we are using multiple currencies we should be able to start offering the service sometime next week."
In related news, Danish supermarket chain Dansk Supermarked will start accepting major international credit cards from the start of May, according to electronic payment service PBS.
