Young workers urged to take advantage of eligible benefits
Young credit card holders who have experienced a fall in their income have been urged to take advantage of any benefits they are eligible for.
With the jobs market more competitive than ever, graduates and non-graduates alike are struggling to find suitable positions, with many willing to take a poorly paid role or even a pay cut in a bid to carve out a career.
Annie Shaw, editor of independent personal finance website cashquestions.com, claimed that any young workers who are taking home a reduced salary should ensure they are benefitting from any tax credits.
She said: "The change in their income level may mean that they become entitled to certain benefits that they weren't entitled to before.
"So you should always check that you are getting all the benefits and all the tax breaks and help that you're actually entitled to."
Ms Shaw added that the Citizens Advice Bureau can offer help to anyone who is unsure to of the benefits they are entitled to.
In addition to tax credits, young professionals could also be eligible for council tax benefit, housing benefit and income support.
