Wiltshire credit card fraudster remanded in custody
Christopher McNeil has been remanded in custody after confessing stealing a string of credit card details in the area and using them to fund five-star hotel stays, train tickets and other purchases, ThisIsWiltshire.co.uk reports.
Mr McNeil, 27, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft, ten of fraud and two of possessing an article for use in fraud.
The latter charges relate to a notebook and slip of paper that were discovered by police, both containing details of other people's credit cards.
Mr McNeil will stay in custody until mid-May while the probation service compiles a pre-sentence report.
Meanwhile, the government announced last month that it is setting up a three-year National Fraud Strategy to try and curb crimes of this nature.
Among the new initiatives are more legal powers for prosecutors and a national fraud reporting centre.
