Which? award won by The Co-operative Bank
An award for the best financial services provider has been won by credit card provider the Co-operative Bank.
The Which? awards are given to the best performers across sectors including credit cards, mortgages and current accounts.
Which? praised the Co-operative Bank for its unique ethical policy and the way it has managed its finances through the credit crunch.
The bank only lends what it receives through customer deposits, meaning that it has been largely unaffected by the problems created by the current lack of lending between banks.
David Anderson, chief executive of the bank, commented: "With our commitment to ethical banking, customer services and responsible lending, we offer a real alternative for customers who may have become disillusioned with their existing bank."
The bank offers a platinum fixed-rate credit card with 9.9% APR typical/variable. There is no fee on the card, which offers an emergency cash and card replacement service.
A total of 1.25p is donated by the bank to deserving causes for every £100 spent on the card, at no extra cost to the credit card holder.
