Virgin Money has launched a not-for-profit online charity fundraising service, the credit card provider has announced.
It hopes the move will help to increase the amount of money going directly to good causes.
Called virginmoneygiving.com, the site aims to charge the lowest possible fees, while investing in high-tech systems to ensure security and stability when donations are processed.
Credit card holders and other charitable donors will be able to sponsor their family members and friends using the site.
Chief executive of Virgin Money, Jayne-Anne Gadhia, commented on the launch: "Virgin Money is using its infrastructure and expertise as a financial services business to ensure that the new service is efficient, secure and offers a high quality service to all fundraisers, charities and donors."
Virgin Money is also currently offering a credit card with a typical rate of 16.6% APR variable.
There is 0% on balance transfers for the first 16 months, with a handling fee of 2.98%. The rate applies to transfers made within the first 60 days.
