The importance of making sure your credit card is the right one for you when travelling abroad has been highlighted as the great summer getaway is about to begin.
Travellers urged to check their credit cards this summer
With the school holidays just around the corner, many people are already turning their attention to their summer holiday, but the Daily Telegraph has suggested sorting out a good credit card deal before heading off to the sun is as important as packing the sun tan lotion.
There are currently a wide variety of credit cards on offer, despite the impact of the recession meaning people should still shop around for the best deals for them before going on holiday.
The newspaper reports that figures from the UK Cards Association show there were 317 million overseas card transactions from British-registered cards last year.
While that figure is likely to decrease this summer, with fewer people planning to take a trip abroad because of the economic downturn, getting the right credit card for the journey should still be a priority as people could save large sums of money through reduced fees.
Credit card provider Santander Cards has recently revealed that airport spending has decreased from £1 billion in September 2007 to £378 million today, demonstrating the impact of the recession.
