Somerfield customer Mark Bowen had his credit card details stolen and illegally used by fraudsters last November after a visit to the Lordship Lane shop, the South London Press reports.
He told the news source: "I got a call from American Express. They said, 'It looks like your card has been cloned'.
"I looked at it and it had been used in about two places."
As a result, Somerfield has been exercising extra vigilance and is liaising with banks and specialist police units to prevent further card crime cases.
Customer service adviser Angela Grist said: "We take this type of incident very seriously and we are confident that this issue has been resolved."
Earlier this month the government also unveiled new measures to tackle credit card crime, including the launch of a National Fraud Strategy.
