Start saving now for Christmas 2012
Consumers will have a good idea of how much money they have to save for next year
British credit card holders should start saving now for Christmas 2012, according to a financial expert.
Andrew Hagger, writing for the Daily Mirror, claimed that it is perhaps too late to save enough for this year's festive season but forward-looking Brits will have all the information they need to save enough for next year.
He wrote on the newspaper's website: "You'll have a good idea what your total outlay will be for presents, food and extra nights out, so just divide this amount by 12 and set up a monthly standing order to go out of your bank account the day after you get paid."
Mr Hagger added that this will allow consumers to cover all their Christmas spending next year without having to take out expensive loans and wonder how they will pay for them in January.
Those looking to reap the rewards of their increased spending over Christmas could apply for a cashback credit card such as Capital One World MasterCard, which offers five per cent cashback on your first £2,000 of purchases in the first three months.
