The provider, which offers cards which are similar to credit cards except they are prepaid with cash, says they come with no application or monthly fees.

Caxton FX stated that overseas cash withdrawals are free with the card, with no loading fee.

Holidaymakers who lose their cards while abroad could also be at an advantage if they have a prepaid version.

According to Caxton FX, debit cards are sometimes blocked when they are stolen and the provider is unable to send out a replacement.

However, the prepaid card provider has stated that card holders who lose their card will have a replacement sent to them no matter where they are in the world, within 48 hours.

Phones4U has also recently launched a prepaid card that offers advantages for spending money abroad.

The Escape Mastercard allows users to transfer money abroad for free by buying a second prepaid card for for £4.99.
