Shop online to reduce the cost of Christmas
Brits can find bargains online, says financial expert
UK credit card holders have been urged to shop online this year to reduce the overall cost of Christmas.
Adrian Pickersgill, director at financial planning firm Chatfield Private Client, advised Brits to develop a detailed budget for the festive season to help limit spending, while they should also ensure that they keep track of all outgoings in the run-up to Christmas.
In addition to budgeting, another way to reduce the expense of Christmas is to hunt for deals online.
"Buy goods online to avoid not only the Christmas shopping scrum, but also any tempting offers that might cause you to lose control of your budget. Shop around for the best deals - again online shopping can really help," he said.
Mr Pickersgill added that those looking to spread the cost of Christmas by applying for a zero per cent credit card should ensure they clear the balance before the introductory period comes to an end.
Online retailer trade body IMRG has predicted that more than £3.7 billion will be spent online in the UK over the next two weeks.
