'Shop around' for best credit card deals
Individuals should not be afraid of looking around for the best credit card deals and should not stay loyal to their bank, an expert has argued.
Various providers have offers to tempt new customers in January and credit card holders would be wise to take advantage of them, said Defaqto banking specialist David Black.
"With credit cards, if you have a good credit rating ... you're much better off not being loyal to anyone, because of all the introductory offers around," he said.
He noted that offers typically include 0% on purchases or special rates for balance transfers, while some providers also offer cashback on purchases for a set period of time.
Taking advantage of such offers could help consumers to make the most of their credit cards and other financial products, Mr Black suggested.
The American Express platinum cashback credit card offers five per cent cash back up to £100 during the first three months, he pointed out.
