The Shell Mastercard has been labelled among the best for cashback rewards.
In a list compiled for the Telegraph, the card was lauded for delivering at least 1% back to consumers on monthly purchases.
However, the article warns: "If you don't pay off the card in full each month, you will be charged interest, which defeats the purpose of getting any cashback in the first place."
In addition, the card should not be used for non-sterling spending, where consumers will be charged a 2.95% fee.
Other useful cards making the moneymaking list include the M&S Mastercard, which offers M&S reward vouchers alongside 0% on purchases for the first ten months.
The article suggests the money consumers would have used to pay off the card in full each month should be transferred to a high-interest current account instead.
According to financial adviser Martin Lewis, cashback credit cards can add hundreds of pounds a year to consumer incomes "without any hassle" and with added legal protection.
