Set a budget to combat financial struggles this Christmas
Brits advised not to spend beyond their means this year by sticking to a spending plan
Set a budget to combat financial struggles this Christmas
Britons have been urged to set a budget for their Christmas spending this year to ensure they do not fall into debt.
Hilary Bruffell, co-founder of online community makeitandmend.com, claimed that many UK consumers fall into the trap of believing they have to spend excessively over the festive period but this is not the case.
She said: “The most obvious thing to do is to plan in advance. If you set a budget and plan your shopping, making and preparing in advance you can save a lot of money.
"Also do you food shopping online as you are far less likely to be tempted to indulge in those last minute 'deals' that aren't really deals. Write your list in advance and stick to it."
Ms Bruffell added that Brits can also save money this year by making food rather than buying pre-prepared products that are often expensive.
A recent survey conducted by YouGov revealed that 31 per cent of Brits, including those already in debt, are set to spend beyond their means this Christmas.
