Self-employed Brits 'need' an income protection plan
Self-employed workers in the UK should take out an income protection policy in order to safeguard their future, according to a financial expert.
Jonathan Davis, managing director of financial planning practice Jonathan Davis Wealth Management, claimed that it is "essential" for self-employed Brits to have an income protection plan as their income is based upon them working.
He said: "If they can't work, they can't earn, so those who are self-employed have to have income protection."
Mr Davis added that life assurance policies are ideal for Brits with families who are dependent on their income to ensure their family members are financially sound in the event of their death.
He added: "So if you have a family who are dependent on your income, then yes you need life assurance. To me, it is an immediate essential. It is exactly the same as having car insurance or home insurance - you know it could happen."
