Second credit card can 'boost' credit score
Brits advised not to be put off applying for a second card
UK consumers have been advised to apply for a second credit card as it offers a myriad of benefits.
Barbara Marquand, a financial expert writing for the Forbes website, claimed that Brits should not be put off securing new a new credit card as it allows users to spread the cost of their spending and potentially boost their credit score.
"With a second credit card, your available credit goes up, and you can spread your balances between the two accounts, lowering your credit card use compared to available credit," she wrote.
"Experts advise to keep your balances on all of your cards below 30 per cent of their credit limits."
Ms Marquand added that a second credit card can also be used in emergencies in case one is lost and can be especially useful when overseas in order to cover unexpected costs.
A recent report by insurance giant Axa revealed that more than eight in ten Britons now own a credit card.
