A credit card issued by Saga has had its APR reduced from 16.9% to 11.9%.
The reduction marks a decrease of almost a third in two years, Saga Personal Finance has said.
According to the credit card provider, Saga aims to prioritise its customers by maintaining a fair order of payment system.
It is hoped that this will ensure customers are not unfairly obliged to retain expensive debts on their credit cards.
Saga stated that it was able to offer the competitive credit card deal because it had developed good relationships with suppliers.
The credit card provider also suggested that its responsible lending programme ensures that customers get a good credit card deal in the long-term and not just when they join up.
Saga's platinum credit card gives customers 0% on purchases for the first nine months after the account is opened.
It also offers 0% foreign currency charge on Visa transactions in Europe.
