Contactless credit cards are becoming increasingly popular in the UK due to their speed of use, according to a new survey.
The Telegraph has obtained a report commissioned by payments company Visa Europe which found that 58 per cent of credit card users preferred contactless cards over cash if they were in a rush.
Furthermore, nearly a third of respondents claimed that they preferred to use contactless payments technology in any situation when they are required to queue.
The survey, called the 'Contactless Barometer' report, also found that 85 per of contactless card users would recommend the technology to their friends and family, while nine in ten claimed that it made their life simpler.
A number of UK retailers are now fitted with contactless payment terminals, including Subway, Pret A Manger, Caffe Nero and EAT.
There are currently 15 million Visa-branded contactless cards in use in the UK, with 23 million in circulation across Europe.
