Qantas opts out of credit card scheme
Qantas has advised members of its Frequent Flyer rewards programme to switch points from their credit card to their airline account before the end of the month.
The move comes after the airline found passengers were having their points converted at different rates, depending on the credit card provider.
Qantas Frequent Flyers (QFF) chief executive Simon Hickey says: "A lot of members did not know that the conversion rate could vary. Now one point is one point.
"We also had problems with issuers putting restrictions, such as minimum points, around points transfers. There were too many complications."
As of April, members who leave their points in credit card reward programmes will not be able to convert them into QFF points.
In related news, a credit card offered by Lloyds TSB has been tipped among the best for flight freebies.
Financial advisor Martin Lewis told the News of the World that getting hold of an Airmiles Duo card via the airmiles.co.uk website before the end of the month entitles holders to 1,500 free airmiles.
