The Post Office Travel Money Card could be a useful payment method for those planning a trip abroad this winter.
The prepaid currency cards work in much the same way as a debit or credit card, except money must be preloaded on to the card before it can be used.
All stores that accept Visa Electron cards will be happy to accept the Post Office Travel Money Card as well.
One advantage of using the prepaid cards is travellers do not have to spend precious holiday time searching around for a bureau de change.
This is because all they need do to get hold of additional local currency is phone up the money card number to top up their card.
The card is free, with a 0% commission for initial load on euro or US dollar cards, with a minimum initial load of £50.
Prepaid currency cards are also available from Caxton FX and Fair FX.
