Payment by credit card 'will be possible by mobile phone'
Intuit's new GoPayment application requires a mobile phone with access to the mobile web or a GoPayment application which can be downloaded.
It is hoped the technology will save small businesses time, particularly those that do work out of the office.
The GoPayment system, set up in collaboration with Sprint phones, cuts down time normally spent chasing invoices as transactions can be completed on the spot.
Vice president of business marketing at Sprint, Tim Donahue, said: "We're offering business customers a unique mobile payment solution that is affordable, simple to use and enables them to receive immediate payment for services".
The technology is currently available in the United States.
In the UK, credit card payments have recently been made simpler and quicker by contactless payment systems.
According to Mastercard UK, the new contactless paypoint machines have been introduced at selected Boots stores across the UK and cover purchases up to the value of £10.
