The Egg Money World MasterCard could be an ideal solution for families planning to spend money on entertaining the children this year, it has been suggested.

Advantages of using the Egg Money World MasterCard include rewards for discounts on family days out and cinema tickets, as well as high street shops.

The suggestion comes as Egg released the results of a survey, which found three in four parents admit they spend more than they can afford on entertaining the children at Christmas.

According to the study, the average family intends to spend almost £40 a day on entertaining the children, working out as £540 over the two-week break.

The survey by credit card provider Egg also found the top five activities for keeping the children occupied over the festive period are taking them out to lunch, trips to the cinema, buying DVDs, books and comics and giving them extra pocket money.
