OAP warns of credit card fraud
A pensioner from Wiltshire has expounded the benefits of checking credit card balances regularly after £500 went missing from her account.
The 76-year-old, who hails from Melksham, first noticed an erroneous £200 had been spent at an Asda store in Manchester, the Wiltshire Times reports.
Upon phoning her bank, further evidence of fraud was found in a Ryanair booking.
She tells the publication: "I want to make sure people check their bank statements regularly so they notice things like this if they do happen.
"I don't know when this happened to me or how, but when I spoke to my son, who lives in California, he told me that it is something that happens on a worldwide scale."
Earlier this week the Daily Mirror suggested one way to beat credit card fraud online was by setting up a PayPal account instead of entering card details repeatedly.
