O2 arena rolls out contactless payment terminals
Visitors to The O2 arena can now pay for goods using contactless payment technology, it has been revealed.
Barclaycard and Visa Europe have rolled out more than 250 card payment terminals across the various shops, bars and restaurants in the famous east London venue, as well as the site's car park.
Contactless card holders will therefore be able to pay for goods under the value of £15 by simply holding their card over a reader to make a payment.
Around three quarters of all electronic transactions processed in the arena's concessions are under £15 on show nights, so the technology should be warmly welcomed by revellers.
Alex Hill, senior executive director and finance director of AEG Europe, owner and operator of The O2, claimed the decision was made with audiences in mind.
He said: "Contactless will play a key part in improving our guests' experiences by speeding up the payment process and reducing queue times, giving everyone more time to enjoy the unique and electric atmosphere of The O2 on a show night."
