Nurses use credit cards to help them manage their finances
According to the financial services provider, one third of all nurses usually have no money left by the end of the month, and some of these use their credit cards to tide them over.
The research showed that nurses have been hit by the recession and are concerned about their job security.
LV= head of partnerships Michele Alcock said: " Nurses regularly work extremely long hours to help others selflessly, yet they face the same stark financial realities as the rest of us, around rising living costs, fears about retirement savings, and the property ladder being out of reach."
The report, which surveyed over 500 nurses across the NHS and private sector, suggested that seven out of ten nurses currently working in the UK have become more concerned over the last year about their financial situation and level of savings.
The survey was released in time to mark International Nurses Day which is celebrated around the world every year on 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
