'Not saving' is Britons' biggest financial regret of 2011
Britons have revealed that failing to save enough was their biggest financial regret of 2011.
Over half (52 per cent) of UK adults responding to a survey from First Direct claimed that 'not saving enough' was their main financial regret last year, while a third said not paying off their debt was their biggest financial woe.
Other concerns included failure to pay enough into their pension and staying in rented property rather than buying a house.
Overall, 48 per cent of UK consumers were dissatisfied with their finances in 2011 compared to 36 per cent in 2010.
Bruno Genovese, head of savings at First Direct, urged Brits to plan their long term spending to help pay off their debts more quickly and increase their disposable income.
He said: "January is the perfect time to get your finances in order and start 2012 as you mean to go on. The earlier people start to plan their finances and look to the future, the better their long term financial position will be."
