New identity fraud report released offering advice to credit card holders
Called the Anonymous Attacker, the report is a collaboration between the UK's Fraud Prevention Service CIFAS and private and public sector organisations.
The report includes prevention tips, statistics on identity fraud which could be of interest to credit cardholders, case studies and opinion pieces.
Credit card holders in particular could be interested in the report as is states more than one in two account takeovers have targeted victims' credit card accounts.
According to Lloyds TSB, there are several precautions that credit card holders and other consumers can take to protect themselves against identity fraud.
These include checking bank and card statements for unusual transactions and never telling other people their card pin numbers.
CIFAS chief executive Peter Hurst commented on the report and its findings: "In partnership with other industry participants, this report lays bare the facts. It is only through such collaboration that the continued fight against fraud can be won.
"Not only is fraud prevention a shared responsibility but it must also become a shared duty across both private and public sectors."
