New eco card launched
Plastic cards made out of recyclable material have been launched by a company keen to help businesses prioritise corporate social responsibility.
The range, supplied by the Plastic Card Shop, boasts one card containing wild flower seeds which can be planted when it reaches its expiry date, reports Brand Republic.
In total, four different eco-friendly materials have been used to manufacture the selection: PETg (a recyclable plastic), recycled PVC, Ingeo PLA (a plastic made from plants) and Bloomcard (made from recycled junk mail).
Matt Payne, managing director of the Plastic Card Shop, told the news source: "These are only small steps but we believe we are all in the same position and want to minimise our impact on the environment - but not compromise on the quality of product or brand integrity.
"The PETg, PVC and PLA ecocards have the look and feel of traditional plastic cards and we can incorporate all the usual features such as a magnetic stripe or a bar code."
Plastic Card Shop isn't the first firm to commit to environmentally-friendly credit cards - Barclaycard launched its Breathe card in 2007, which gives 50% of all profits to carbon-reduction projects.
