New anti-fraud credit card to be launched
A new type of credit card is set to be launched in the early portion of this year as part of moves to combat identity fraud, it has been reported.
The new Visa card has a number of unique features that are designed specifically to deal with such scams.
Among them are a keypad and LCD display, which allow the holder of the card to input a Pin number each time an online transaction is made.
An official from the credit card company said the firm has noticed a "big rise" in online shopping, but consumers were still concerned about the threat of fraud.
"We hope this new card will help allay those fears, and give consumers more confidence when shopping online," the representative added.
Meanwhile, Donald MacLeod, head of Sainsbury's Credit Cards recently suggested that online shopping with a credit card is safer than using a debit card.
