As members, they will have access to triple loyalty points for all shopping at M&S on the store's credit card.

They will also be treated to seasonal and birthday gifts and complimentary hot drinks at the M&S cafes with a value of up to £120 a year.

Credit card holders will be offered worldwide multi-trip family insurance, up to the age of 80, as part of the deal.

Amanda Newman, M&S Premium Club manager, said: "Premium Club offers our credit card holders more of what they want from M&S, with exclusive access to a collection of benefits and rewards with an overall value several times the cost of membership."

The membership is available to new customers at the same time that they apply for an M&S credit card and existing card holders can also apply.

M&S credit card offers 0% for six months on balance transfers, with a 2% fee and a £5 minimum.

It offers typical 15.9% APR variable.
