Of those who completed the online survey, just 19% said they did not have a credit card; 14% of men and 22% of women.
Following the release of the survey, N&P is launching free guides to changes in life which can affect finance.
These include having children, work and retirement, relationships and death, inheritance and money.
Matthew Bullock, N&P's chief executive, said: "We understand there are more exciting things to do than sort out your finances, but in the current climate it's really important that you do everything you can to ensure you're as in control of your money as possible.
"Our research showed that people are worried about managing their finances at the moment, and even if they can take just one helpful hint on board it will be time well spent."
N&P is currently offering 0% on balance transfers for the first 12 months from the day the account is opened, with a 3% handling fee.
The rate is 15.9% APR typical variable.
