More students than ever believe they will have to work during term time, according to research from a credit card provider.
More students are working in term time, says credit card provider Halifax
According to Halifax, 46% of students say they have a part-time job during term time. This is an increase from 41% who said they were working last year.
The increase reflects fears that parents may not be able to help with funding studies, the research from Halifax revealed.
A total of 15% of students were concerned the economic downturn may force their parents to stop helping them to fund their studies.
An additional 31% said they were uncertain about the potential impact of the recession on parental funding.
Halifax concluded the research shows it is more important than ever to make every penny count.
It suggested consumers get a Halifax student current account, which offers 20% off Card Care protection insurance that covers credit cards, as well as debit, store and charge cards whether at home or abroad.
Halifax is currently offering a student credit card with an adjustable credit limit.
The rate on the credit card is typical 17.9% APR variable, and is available in five different colours.
