The Daily Mail reports that online banking on a computer "will soon look as old-fashioned as writing a cheque" as bills are settled on handsets instead.
Currently only a few hundred thousands consumers have adopted this banking method, but analysts claim the majority will have converted within 15 years.
Stuart Jacklin, who already uses the technology, told the news source the benefits are obvious.
"I love the fact I can log on to my account anywhere, even when I'm out and about," he said.
"It's like having a personal computer in my pocket."
Earlier this month credit card provider Barclays announced it is teaming up with Orange to allow consumers to make payments under £10 using their mobile phones.
