The MasterCard brand will flourish as a contributor to the 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC), it has been suggested.

Following yesterdays' announcement that the group has been unveiled as one of the major sponsors behind the upcoming event, a spokesman for has outlined the opportunities the partnership provides.
Andre Sekulic, president of MasterCard's worldwide business in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions, said sponsorships played a role in international business that was "critical".
He added as a global brand, a tournament with the prestige of the RWC represented a unique opportunity.
Mr Sekulic concluded that the firm would build "brand affinity by offering priceless experiences to MasterCard cardholders" as well as make the most of the platform to boost its shareholder value.
The next qualification stage for countries including Germany, Georgia, Portugal, Romania, Russia and Spain takes place this month during the European Nations Cup.
