MasterCard is the big winner in this year's Global Finance magazine awards - picking up top prize in the Best Corporate Cards category for a third consecutive year.

The credit card provider was lauded for employing innovative solutions to enhance value and efficiency in commercial payments.

Steve Abrams, global product group executive for commercial products at MasterCard Worldwide, said: "We are honored to have been recognised by this panel of industry experts for our efforts.

"We understand the pressures our customers face in this economic environment and remain committed to developing payment solutions that help them derive real business value."

The Global Finance awards aim to identify banks and providers that consistently improve transaction processes by assessing profitability, market share and reach, customer service, competitive pricing and product innovation.

In other MasterCard news, research by the credit card provider in Australia has found more than half (53%) of consumers are not planning to cut back discretionary spending despite the credit crunch, AAP reports.
