MasterCard confirms football support
MasterCard will lend support to the UEFA Champions League for at least another three years after renewing its sponsorship deal this week (April 7th).
The credit card provider inked an agreement to extend its current contract through to the end of the 2011/2012 season, although the value of the deal has not been disclosed.
Heineken and Sony have already renewed on three-year contracts, while UniCredit - an Italian banking group - also joins the football league as a partner next season.
"Sponsorships represent a critical component of MasterCard's global marketing approach and we are pleased to renew our involvement with the UEFA Champions League," Javier Perez, president of MasterCard Europe, said in a statement.
He added the sponsorship would continue to deliver shareholder value "by creating exclusive business building opportunities".
In other MasterCard news, the credit card provider recently announced it is offering two-for-one deals on tickets to UK tourist attractions as part of a new promotion.
According to Brand Republic, Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland Windsor, Madame Tussauds and Thorpe Park are among the theme parks and attractions on offer.
