'Make sure you are getting the best credit card deal', consumers told

Louise Bond, personal finance expert at uSwitch.com, said with high levels of unemployment hitting the UK and people struggling to make ends meet, it is important to take action to make sure the best deals are being taken advantage of.

Credit cards, energy and current account providers should all be considered to ensure consumers are getting the right deal for them.

Her comments follow the release of a survey, which shows three out of four consumers will change their financial behaviour as a result of the ongoing recession.

According to the study by uSwitch.com, over seven million consumers will save more and spend less and almost one in five will stop spending frivolously on items that are not essential.

"We really hope that, if nothing else, consumers will learn one clear lesson from the ongoing recession and that is to manage their finances carefully," Ms Bond commented.
