Lloyds TSB: Credit card holders should not save passwords online
Credit card holders have been advised by Lloyds TSB not to save passwords or personal details online.
The advice from the credit card provider follows the release of a study revealing that two in three of those asked said they did not know how to protect themselves from identity fraud.
According to the study, three quarters of adults in the UK are currently worried about identity theft.
Following the release of these figures, Lloyds TSB has launched a campaign offering advice about how credit card holders and other consumers can protect themselves against ID fraud.
One suggestion is that credit card holders should keep their cards in sight at all times and should watch anyone holding them for swiping.
Credit card holders should also check their statements and credit report regularly for unusual transactions, the credit card provider also recommended.
Jatin Patel, spokesperson for Lloyds TSB said: "As technology improves, it gets easier and easier for criminals to steal our identities and during tough economic times the temptation becomes greater."
However, according to the latest Financial Fraud Action UK figures, card fraud losses were down by 23 per cent in the first half of 2009, in comparison with the same period last year.
