Keep an eye on credit cards, customers urged
Consumers should keep a close eye on their bags when out shopping to ensure their wallets, purses, credit cards - and even bags themselves - do not go astray, they have been warned.
Financial services provider More Than explains collectively, the nation carries a total of £25.2 billion around in its bags every day, with even more being present during the festive period due to the presence of gifts and sale items.
"In spite of our reliance on credit cards, we still carry an average of £44 in cash with us," the company notes, explaining people in Northern Ireland have the most money on their person, with an average of £83.44.
Meanwhile, the Welsh carry the least, with £35.51 being the mean amount.
Pete Markey from More Than comments: "It is important to be vigilant when we carry so much around."
Just before Christmas, the Post Office advised male consumers to be vigilant with their manbags due to an increasing number of men carrying them.
