Jackson tickets prompt global splurge
Music fans have had their credit cards at the ready today (March 13th) as a second wave of Michael Jackson tickets go on sale.
The singer insists 50 dates at London's O2 arena later this year will be his last live shows in the country and the news has attracted unprecedented demand to see him.
Pre-sale tickets for Jackson's first 10 dates sold out earlier this week, while the remainder are set to be snapped up within hours today.
Some have already appeared on online auction website eBay for as much as £10,000 but tickets purchased directly from the singer's website or Ticketmaster cost up to £75.
Randy Phillips, the president and CEO of AEG Live, which is promoting the concerts, said: "We knew this was showbusiness history, but this is a cultural phenomenon.
"Not only are these concerts unparalleled, these records will never be broken."
Michael Jackson's last UK appearance was at the World Music Awards in London in 2006.
