HSBC: Credit cards customers should be safe on holiday
Tim Pie, a spokesperson for HSBC, says people tend to be more relaxed while they are on a break from their everyday routine.
However, he notes this could result in them becoming the victims of credit card fraud.
"There are gangs in places like the south of Spain who trawl the beaches stealing people's details by following them to ATMs and shoulder surfing them while they are in shops, Mr Pie adds.
He explains many providers of credit cards are taking steps to protect people from such activity, which could result in legitimate transactions being blocked if banks are not made aware of the holiday.
A total of five security measures are offered for users of HSBC's credit card.
It also has no annual fee and a typical 16.9% APR variable after the end of its introductory period.
