Holiday spending habits 'could be changed by recession'
Francesca Ecsery, global sales director of Cheapflights, said that some travellers are looking to reduce their holiday spending during the recession and others are not willing to take an extended break from the office, choosing instead to take shorter breaks.
Ms Ersery commented that a recent survey from Cheapflights found 55% of those polled said they preferred a shorter summer holiday of one week or less.
"The recession is not only hitting the travel industry hard, but may be creating long-term trends in consumers' holiday habits," the global sales director commented.
For those looking to save money while holidaying abroad, Caxton FX has recommended a prepaid credit card, which can allow users to save money on exchanging currency.
Phones4U has also released a prepaid Mastercard called Escape, which could offer advantages to those travelling abroad.
