Labour's deputy leader has launched a new website giving women advice on how to manage their credit cards.
The Real Help Now for Women site and accompanying booklet aims to detail different ways women can find support in the economic downturn, reports the Mirror.
Speaking about the initiative to the newspaper, Harriet Harman said she sympathised with people who fear they rely too much on their credit cards.
"I think it's fair enough that more people have wanted to be better off, that more people have wanted to be on the housing ladder, that they've wanted to have better holidays," she explained.
"This is not about people overstretching their credit cards, this is a global financial crisis."
Ms Harman added that women who were struggling with credit card repayments should simply contact their provider, who should be able to offer breathing space of up to 60 days.
Ms Harman isn't the only female celebrity to make a case for credit cards recently - Lesley Garrett told the Telegraph last month of the consumer protection advantages she enjoys when using them.
