Government launches financial web tool
Credit cards and other financial terms can be searched using an interactive web tool launched by the government today.
Moneyspeak is an interactive device available on the government's official website, Directgov.
It aims to explain financial terms such as credit cards and terms that can sometimes seem confusing such as fiscal stimulus or quantative easing.
The tool offers information about how credit cards work, what to do if you have been refused credit and the difference between a debit and credit card.
According to the UK Card Association, credit and charge cards were used to make two billion purchases last year, with a total value of £139 billion.
Moneyspeak is automatically shareable via Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other bookmarking sites, and can be embedded in blogs and websites.
Jayne Nickalls, Directgov chief executive, said: "Directgov receives more than 18 million visits per month. By creating flexible tools that work outside of our site, such as Moneyspeak, we can make Directgov even more accessible."
Moneyspeak also identifies information relating to the chosen search term by linking to the relevant Directgov pages.
