Ensure you report any missing cards, says expert
It is vital for credit card customers to report their plastic missing should it go astray, a sector commentator has suggested.
Peter Harrison, cards expert at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, makes his comments in response to Barclays announcement that it will begin issuing contactless debit cards this year.
He says that the main thing which is holding back the number of payments currently made using the technology is the low number of retailers that have the necessary card readers installed in their outlets.
Mr Harrison adds as and when the majority of shops have such facilities in their stores, we may see fewer people weighed down with coinage as they begin to adopt a more card-oriented methodology when it comes to spending.
"Like all cards it is important to report them missing if they do go astray. As long as you do that you are then protected from any subsequent fraudulent activity," the expert concludes.
Barclays will begin rolling out contactless cards from March.
