A Which? survey revealed a quarter of those polled said they struggle to understand how much they owe their energy suppliers.

The consumer champion said it would like to see bills that are easy to read, with an itemised summary box so that consumers can access the key information easily.
Editor if Which? magazine Martyn Hocking commented: "Consumers aren't going to be able to reduce their energy use or find the best deal if they don't understand what's going on.
"Bills need to be much clearer, and better customer service from the energy companies wouldn't go amiss either."
According to Barclaycard, credit card holders with the firm can access information about bills and transfers online using a new webservice mybarclaycard.
The service is simple to use and allows Barclaycard holders to choose how they view their account information and spending online.
Barclaycard customers can also request a balance transfer, which could be used to pay energy bills without hassle.
