Egg credit card holders who have had a card with the bank since before October 2001 will no longer be entitled to a cashback perk on purchases, it has been reported.
Around 200,000 credit card holders will be affected by the move from November 1st, as they will no longer receive 0.1% of the amount they have spent on their cards over the year, according to the Guardian.
Spokesperson for Egg Teresa Broughton told the publication that the facility was not being used by most customers as they did not earn enough to get cashback.
Customers in the past have only been able to receive the cashback once they had earned at least £10 a year.
According to Ms Broughton, only 17,000 credit card holder qualified for the payment last year and received an average of £17.
Last month, Barclaycard launched a cashback credit card with 1% offered on all spending up to £2,000 and 0.5% cashback thereafter, according to Which?
