Don't battle with finances, says expert
Credit card customers have been told to avoid a battle with their finances and look for better deals.
Writing for the Mirror newspaper, Tricia Phillips cited Virgin money statistics and said approximately a third of people will have to curb spending in 2009, as costs rise and salaries decrease.
Stating this will mean little to no saving of money, she adds confidence in paying for essentials is falling.
However, Ms Phillips states looking elsewhere for better deals on credit cards will help to save hundreds of pounds.
"All it takes is a phone call," she writes. "Go through everything."
In other news, credit card annual spending is increasing 1.9 per cent, according to recent figures from UK payments association Apacs.
The association noted 2008's figure was £126.3 billion, a rise on £123.9 billion reported the previous year.
Other statistics revealed there was £4.7 billion spent online, while plastic card spending was up 0.3 per cent on 2007's amount.
