Dinner services among writer's greatest extravagances
Author Josephine Cox has confessed her major spending splurge - buying dinner services.
Dinner services among writer's greatest extravagances
The bestselling writer told the Telegraph that poverty as a child and again during the 1970s recession has generally taught her to be careful with money.
However, she revealed she is unable to resist good crockery after being forced to use mismatched alternatives when growing up.
She explained: "During my childhood we never had any cups in our house, only jam-jars or milk bottles to drink from.
"As soon as I could afford it I started buying dinner services and over the years this has been my greatest weakness. I now have 10 dinner services in my loft that have never been used."
Last month another author, Joan Collins, told the newspaper how using credit cards helps to control her own spending.
She claimed having an "automatic record" of purchases enables her to keep track of her finances and is easier to double check against the receipts she saves.
