Designers inspired by plastic card future
Visions of a cash-less future are inspiring young designers to create accessories aimed solely at debit and credit card carrying.
Recent analysis by the Payments Council and Apacs suggest cheque and cash usage will wane further over the coming years as consumers increasingly rely on card payments or their mobile phones.
Andrew Ibi, a designer and fashion lecturer in London, told the BBC this could have big implications for fashion.
In particular, he predicts using a mobile and cards instead of stuffing notes into pockets could see more men carry bags in future.
He explained to the news source: "Men think more about function and so dress based on practicality.
"But if you have a really sharp pair of trousers, the last thing you want to do is shove your wallet or phone in your pocket, because it causes dramas in the way the trousers are going to hang."
