Deep Purple star reveals preference for Visa credit card

The Deep Purple rocker, now 63, told the Telegraph that plastic payment is much easier to use, especially when the band tours different countries.

He explained: "I use a Visa credit card because I am so often abroad it just seems the easiest way to get some local currency from a hole in the wall.

"I have been told it's not the cheapest way, but if you carry a debit card they aren't accepted everywhere."

The musician also revealed that splashing out on a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud almost 40 years ago remains his biggest extravagance to this day.

Despite only splurging £2,750 for the secondhand vehicle, it represented a quarter of the price he paid for his first house.

Other celebrities who have endorsed the use of credit cards recently include opera star Lesley Garrett, who is attracted by the consumer protection advantages they offer, reports the Telegraph.
